The Golden Globes kicked off the awards season for 2015 on January 11th and SHERENE MELINDA’s eyes were peeled for the best dressed and the glitziest handbags. Always eager to stay on top of what’s trending in today’s fashion; we’ve compiled a list of our favourite handbags worn by guests at this year’s Golden Globes.

Edie Parker is a New York fashion brand founded by Brett Heyman, a talented designer who trained alongside Nina Garcia and managed the accessories department at both Gucci and Dolce & Gabanna. Turning her talents to designing, she came up with a range of bespoke styles of handcrafted and luxurious clutch bags made using acrylic. Her handbags aim to match the colour and pattern of the bag to the personality of its owner; such is the case with this one worn by Nikki Reed.
Rauwolf, Elettra Clutch
Rauwolf is a New York fashion brand founded by designer Kristine Johannes in 2011. Her designs are aimed at helping women gain confidence and achieve comfort in their own skin. This stunning clutch bag worn by Kate Beckinsale is fully lined with silk and handcrafted in Italy.
Charlotte Olympia, Pandora Clutch
Charlotte Olympia is British shoe and accessory brand founded by Charlotte Olympia Dellal in 2008. The brand has rapidly expanded in the past 6 years having established boutique stores in London, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Hong Kong and Dubai. Her designs focus on achieving femininity but also aim to include a sense of humour and incorporate inspiration from 1940’s Hollywood glamour. Judith Leiber, Smoke Resin Clutch
Judith Leiber is a legend of the fashion industry and the most established brand of the 5 we’ve picked. Well known for combining elegance and style, their pieces are famous for accessorising the outfits of numerous First Lady’s at their attendance of the U.S Presidential Inauguration ceremonies. Recognised for dedicated craftsmanship and strong attention to detail, their beautiful pieces such as this smouldering smoke resin clutch bag worn by Kerry Washington have attracted attention from fashion fanatics across the globe.
The evening’s trend
It seems that Minaudières were out in force on the Golden Globes red carpet this year. For those of you who don’t know, Minaudières are clutch bags that are often square in shape and decorated with jewels. Clutch bags are most commonly worn as night time accessories but Minaudières take this concept one step further, adding even more glamour to the evening’s proceedings. Minaudières were invented in 1930 by jewellers Van Cleef & Arpels and were intended to be a vanity box to hold a woman’s most important beauty essentials. We only picked our favourite 5 handbags of the evening, but there were many more out there and an overwhelming majority were Minaudières. In the later part of the 20th Century, one particular designer brand became renowned for their Minaudières called Judith Leiber; which perhaps suggests why she tops our list!
