"I have great respect for our precious earth and make continuous improvements to preserve it. Our delicate environment deserves to be a top priority in our lives, now more than ever before and this has a strong influence in all the decisions I take" Creative Director Sherene Melinda Smith
The ethical nature of the materials and of our designs is very important to us and our brand. Our signature collection of handbags is made with ethically sourced springbok hair-on-hide combined with the finest Italian nappa leather and all handbags have a fully lined interior of natural eco-friendly pigskin leather.
Springbok (Antidorcas Marsupialis) have a species status of 'least concern' and have an increasing population trend. They are not CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna) protected. The animals live freely in great abundance in Southern Africa and the sustainability of the species is carefully managed. Ensuring the survival of the species, Springbok are culled seasonally and this maintains population control. Importantly all parts of the animal are utilized; in the food industry and the hair-on-hide is also used in a decorative way in interiors, furniture and fashion.
Each cherished piece of beautiful Springbok leather is handselected in South Africa and handcut by our designer, always with a particular handbag in mind. The leather is used with great care, respect and attention; wastage is minimised as far as possible. The natural elements that express themselves through each of the individual hides provide a unique quality to each handbag which makes each piece both desirable and personal.
The Italian nappa cow leather used in our luxurious handbags is sourced from one of the biggest tannery groups in the world. Not only has this given us access to the highest quality leathers but also importantly it is from a corporation and leader in the industry that places sustainability at the core of their agenda and its future business growth.
We use a natural eco-friendly leather in the lining of all our handbags. This means it is produced in an environmentally friendly way without the use of dyes and chemicals.
Our beautiful handbags are all handmade in a small family owned factory in Portugal. Our designer, Sherene, works very closely with the team in Portugal all year round to ensure the end-to-end process always maintains the highest standards that we expect.
Our handbags are made with leather that is a natural by-product of the food industry.
Our handbags are made using leather both inside and out. We use nappa leather on the outside and the handbags are lined with an ecofriendly (using no harmful chemicals or dyes) natural pigskin leather in the inside. This helps to make our bags incredibly soft and luxurious but also durable and longlasting.
For our signature feature that we have become known for we use genuine Springbok hair-on-hide leather. The ethical source of the materials is very important to us. Springbok are classified as non-cites (which means there is no threat to the survival of the species) and the animals live freely in abundance in South Africa. The sustainability of the species is carefully managed and the population is culled to keep the ecosystem in balance. The local food industry benefits from this and the by-products are also utilised in decorative ways in interiors, furniture and fashion.
All our leathers are a by-product of the food-industry.
We use only high quality YKK zips and silver-coloured metal chains, studs and handbag hardware.
All our handbags are offered with a white cotton dustbag to keep them clean.
