Our new collection is finally here! The news that SHERENE MELINDA was releasing a new range of springbok handbags was first released in July of last year. The Sophy Clutch and Ella Tote then went on to turn heads after being launched on the catwalk of Africa Fashion Week London in August 2015. Since then, both handbags have been perfected and colours have been finalised. The new collection is now fully available to purchase online and will be offered to the trade at February’s Pure London event.
Inspiration of the new collection
SHERENE MELINDA’s previous collections have all used springbok hair-on-hide, a feature representative of the designer’s South African heritage and a desire to bring a unique material to the UK handbag scene. The designer, Sherene Robson, aimed to replicate this distinctive quality in the new collection. To compliment the cheeky, fun and quirky style of SHERENE MELINDA and the springbok hair-on-hide, the ideas behind the handbags have been motivated by the designers of old, with a focus on traditional shapes and sizes. The end result of all this being that Sherene has dreamt up something truly special, a range that incorporates the traditional with the contemporary.
How has this been achieved?
The Ella Tote has been fashioned in to a trapezium shape that closes firmly at the top using strong magnets. The conventional shape allows ample space to hold your possessions and the handles provide the comfort to wear the bag over the shoulder, elbow or held in the hand. The eye-catching springbok hair-on-hide, available in 14 striking colours, offers the flexibility to wear the bag for both daytime and evening.
Next up in the new collection is the Sophy Clutch, which has also been classically shaped. This rectangular shaped clutch is the ideal accessory for an evening out. The designer has thoughtfully included a strong magnetic flap closure and made the handbag a good size, allowing possessions to be stored safely and compact. The addition of a detachable elegant silver coloured chain-link strap means the handbag is versatile enough to be worn in the daytime. The strap also gives the freedom to wear this clutch bag over the shoulder or across the body. The Sophy Clutch is offered in 15 colours.
The collection follows SHERENE MELINDA's signature style of a fully leather lined interior. The Ella Tote and Sophy Clutch feature a new eco-friendly leather, that has not been treated using any artificial chemicals or dyes. This helps keep your hands, possessions and the environment clean and healthy.
The final part of this new three-piece from SHERENE MELINDA is the Twisty Tassel. It is also made with authentic springbok hair-on-hide and includes a keyring attachment. You can add it to your handbag, keys or anything you feel like really! The idea behind the Tassel is to give you the chance to show off your personality, match a baby blue tassel with a black handbag and have some fun!

We are currently offering free delivery on the Twisty Tassel as an introductory special. In addition, for the first time, you can now order directly from our website for delivery across Europe.
Pure London February 2016
