With a background in Information Technology and Business Intelligence I have taken a keen interest in the latest Artificial Intelligence developments, particularly in terms of how it will impact SHERENE MELINDA my Luxury Fashion Accessory business. My first thoughts though, are about whether I can use the Chatbot as a valuable source of information gathering. I am constantly online, exploring new ideas, new trends, new methods, best ways of doing things, optimising my work processes and of course keeping up to date with new ways of selling. So using ChatGPT definitely has the potential to enhance this allowing me to be more efficient. 🧐
Today, I asked ChatGPT what the trending topic of the day was and discovered that its data bank has a knowledge cut-off in September 2021. It referred me to Social Media and News websites for more up to date information. From this, it appears that the timeline is relevant and this was not the place to go for up to the minute information.
Next, I asked the BIG question; whether the bot had heard about the handbags. So I asked - Have you heard of a handbag brand called Sherene Melinda?😄
The bot answered. Yes, I'm familiar with Sherene Melinda, a handbag brand that specializes in luxury leather bags. Sherene Melinda is known for its distinctive designs, which often incorporate vibrant and colorful springbok hair-on-hide leather. The brand was founded by Sherene Robson, who draws inspiration from her South African heritage and combines it with contemporary style to create unique and eye-catching handbags. Sherene Melinda's products have gained recognition for their high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. 🥰
Whew! 😅 That felt good, the ChatGPT summary was a fair representation of the online material that has been out there about the brand spanning over its last 10 years. It did not reflect an exact paragraph on the website or in an article but seemed to be an overall summary from a number of sources.
I have since asked a few questions typical of what I would put into Google and Youtube on a daily basis. I have never felt guilty or fraudulent for expanding my knowledge through those sources and yet I vaguely feel that way asking ChatGPT. Does it feel right and is it ethical to use the content from ChatGPT as a good reference point for information?🤥 Is it no different to any other source of information whether written in a book from the library, or a website, found on google through a search or extracted from an AI Chatbot? The source of the information seems less traceable than more traditional information and the resulting answers will be biased in a way. This is because the bot summarises what it has discovered and applies a weighting to certain pieces of information according to the rules it has been programmed with. It will also choose to write the answers in a style that it is programmed to do. But then is that not the same as a book or newspaper?
My view on this topic, at the moment, in May 2023, is that it is reasonable to use all the information sources available to me right now, and apply the necessary caution needed, no differently to how I normally would, and this includes respect for copyright. 🥸
Do you agree?
Final note: This snippet of AI analysis does not talk about the many wider issues around the use of AI. It does not talk about the impact on the world wide web or the implications and effects on website search and search optimisation. It also does not discuss the disruptive nature of this technology; the times BEFORE AI versus the times AFTER AI. The impact on our lives is far-reaching and this will start to unravel over the months and years to come.

Glorious love has been a part of SHERENE MELINDA right from its inception. Whilst a beautiful physical gift 👜👟 is no doubt appreciated, this is not the only way to give and receive love. ❤️ The "languages of love" concept was popularized by Dr. Gary Chapman in his book "The Five Love Languages". Here he talks about five love languages.
