When I first heard about the promotion of a Slow Fashion day at Cheltenham Races I loved the thought of it. "Ladies Day" with a twist. As a strong believer in the pre-loved market for special items (both for furniture and fashion) and along with our brand philosophy that the handbags are designed for life, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to showcase this event.
Cheltenham is in Gloucestershire and being held in March it is the first event of the race season. This makes the weather still feel quite wintery and rather unreliable. Layering up is always important, as well as including all the accessories like boots, scarf, handbag, hat, gloves and umbrella. These essential pieces offer a perfect opportunity to stand out from the crowd in an elegant and stylish way.
I will be keeping an eye out for our hand-printed silk scarves and of course for the handbags which always make their way to the races. The Clutch is a popular choice for a smaller style handbag but some may prefer a slightly larger option for a day out at Cheltenham. Our Smith Tote Bag is a bigger statement piece that can be worn instead. Possibly the winner of the day is the well loved and well used Multiway Handbag which can be worn as a Clutch, a Shoulder bag or a Crossbody. It is always interesting to see how ladies pair together their outfits and make their colour choices.
Although there is no longer a strict dress code at Cheltenham Festival, the fashion tends to be elegant with often muted and natural pared back tones. In terms of selecting your handbag some of our neutral colours work well but if making the handbag a centrepiece along with the hat th en a splash of colour will not go a miss. A red, yellow or royal blue handbag can compliment almost any outfit at Cheltenham.

The day the first Sherene Melinda Silk Twill Scarves launched was a true milestone—one I'd worked toward through months of experimentation, setbacks, and small victories. The initial collection featured three carefully selected base colours, each the product of weeks of deliberation, testing, and refinement until they felt exactly right. Every scarf was hand-printed by me in the studio, a process that ensured each piece carried its own individual character and the small, beautiful imperfections that only handcrafting can bestow. Just as with our signature handbags, each scarf possesses a personality of its own, revealed through the interplay of colour, pattern, and subtle texture variations. This unwavering commitment to uniqueness and craftsmanship lies at the very heart of the brand's philosophy—celebrating individuality, creativity, and honouring the human touch behind every product we create.
Summer feels long behind us, and as the festive season unfolds, it’s that time of year when creativity and craftsmanship take centre stage. The Spirit of Christmas Fair remains one of London’s best-loved seasonal showcases — a place where individuality, story-driven design, and thoughtful gifting shine.
